As the saying “We can Hold the
World by English,” that’s the best line to illustrate how important English is
to the human being in this time. English is not only become economical and
cultural, but also it is best described as the international language that has
been studying from most of country including Indonesia.
The importance of mastering English language
has been known well by our society themselves, most of them want to be both
Mastering in Speaking English Language and mastering the other branches of
English Language like Grammar, Listening and writing. All of that happen because
the change of Time and culture that force us to compete each other in the world
league, where the communicating language that use in common is English
Language.
As the conclusion of what we
talk above, Walisongo English Club as the English Lovers Community in the Green
Campus IAIN Walisongo Semarang, is aware that they must hold some agenda that
can awake students’ spirit to studying and mastering it well, especially to
them the Walisongo Students that love English and generally to Semarang
Students.
It was on nice Saturday, 16th
of April 2011, taken place in the 2nd Floor of 1st
auditorium located on Campus I, WEC presented the interesting English Program
that focused on the guidance and training to become a competent English
trainer, untitled “Training Of Trainer” or TOT in short. This English Program
participated by more than 150 participants from IAIN Walisongo itself and from
8 participants from Non-IAIN, like UNNISULA, IKIP, PGRI and UNDIP. This event
held due to WEC’s Care to the skill of university students in delivering their knowledge to other, not
to mention that it is specialized in English.
There were four agendas, started with
presentation from Mr. Sukendar untitled “Achievement and Motivation,” he said
that the brave spirit is a spirit to do something better and more useful to
other. The next agenda was “Training of Writer” by Mr. Sulaiman Al-Kumaiyi (The
Writer of International Best Seller Book “99 Asmaul Husna”), he said in short
term: “just Go, Find the interesting Idea then quickly apply it in your
writing.” The program continued after the participants get some times to break
and rest for a while.
The next agenda was “Training
to Get Scholarship” by Mr. Saekul Anwar, he clearly presented about some ways
to get scholarship from inside or outside Indonesia. The Last agenda was
“Public Speaking Training” that presented by Mr. Khanif Miftahuddin (Presenter
of Cakra TV Semarang) that generally invited the participants to get used to
speak in front of public without fear or shy because we will feel easy after we
get used to do it continously.
This short - and full of
inspiration – agenda was greeted by Mr. Galih Wibisono as the Chairman of WEC
in period 2011. He said that we must have commitment to study English, don’t be
shy or nervous if we make any maistakes and face a lot of difficulty, it’s just
a normal thing because English isn’t our own language, the most important thing
is “We Must Believe that We Can.”
The same sentence coming from
Student of Syariah Faculty Umy Laely Rizkiyani (19) : “For me, English is a
fascinating language that should be studied throughoutly, because English is
important to our future life.
May this short agenda can
remind us to always study English in every time and every place, because
English is our Cultural Language Right Now. As the Saying “English is not
Everything but Everything without English is Nothing.”
